Published house plans are copyrighted by their designers. We use them only as inspiration. Every Thomas Drafting design is drawn from scratch from your brief.
Questions
Common questions
Can you just redraw a plan I found online?
No. Plans are protected by copyright. We take the ideas you like (layout, size, style) and design an original home around them.
Can I combine ideas from two or more plans?
Yes. Tell us which parts you like from each, and we design one new plan that brings those ideas together.
What if I want to buy a stock plan?
You can buy it directly from the plan site. We can then help adapt it to your lot and the Building Code, within the terms of the plan’s licence.
Are the plans on these sites ready for a permit?
Usually not as drawn. Many are designed to US standards and need changes for the Building Code and local zoning where you build.
